Your Complete Guide to the 2020 Toyota Supra

Posted at Fri, Aug 23, 2019 2:30 PM

In the past, we here at Westbury Toyota have talked quite a bit about the 2020 Toyota Supra, giving you first the preliminary details and then a sneak peak of the GT4 racing version. Now we’re going to take a more in-depth look at everything this car has, inside and out. Our reason for this is simple – the 2020 Supra is now available at Westbury Toyota, and we want to share every single exciting detail about this incredible car to get you as excited as we are!

From the Outside In

We’re going to start with the Supra’s exterior, which boasts the unmistakable sleek, bold lines that give this car its legendary silhouette. There are 11 exterior paint options (with some variations by model), including the three launch edition colors: Renaissance Red 2.0, Absolute Zero, and Nocturnal. The GR Launch Edition also comes with some additional standard features, including 19-inch matte-black wheels, red mirror caps, and a unique interior carbon-fiber badge that comes individually numbered.

As Mike Lowe of Pocket Lint points out, the shape of the GR Supra is an attention-grabbing one, complete with the “double bubble” roof and a front end that has an intriguingly retro feel. The rear has an aggressive look with its dramatic light placement and streamlined spoiler, completing the overall aesthetic of an unforgettable luxury sports car.

All the Bells and Whistles

Every part of the GR Supra’s interior was designed with the driver in mind, and to that end you’ll find a cockpit that provides a seamless blend of technology and luxury. Sports seats with deep bolsters match with knee padding mounted on the side of the console to keep you comfy even through the tightest turns. The seats come with 14-way power adjustments to give you unparalleled control over how you’re sitting behind the wheel. Speaking of the wheel, it’s a tilt/telescopic, leather wrapped way to pilot the car of your dreams with fast response and fantastic control, enhanced by paddle shifters mounted on the steering column.

In terms of tech, the Supra has it all. The digital display itself hosts a bevy of features, including:

  • 8.8-inch high resolution display
  • Customizable speed, navigation, and entertainment selection displays
  • Three-dimensional tachometer that shows engine speed, current driving gear and suggested driving gear
  • Other key driving informational feeds

That’s not all in regard to nifty tech features for the Supra, however. This car also has Apple CarPlay compatibility along with Supra Connect, the latter of which being a suite that provides drivers with Real Time Traffic Information, Automatic Emergency Call, and Concierge Service. Also, a part of this suite is Battery Guard, which notifies drivers when the battery gets low. An integrated navigation system gives you precise, turn-by-turn directions that display on either the touchscreen, the gauge cluster, or the Head’s Up Display – or, if you prefer it, all three at once.

Built for Racing

As Marc Urbano of Car and Driver describes, the GR Supra has some serious racing potential, clocking 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) in 3.8 seconds. The engine for this car is a 3.0-liter (L) inline six-cylinder capable of an impressive 335 horsepower (hp) and 365 pound-ft (lb-ft.) of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s capable of hitting a blistering top track speed of 155 mph.

It’s not all about power, though, and to that end the GR Supra has a shorter overall length than most other cars in its class (172.5 inches). This compactness lends itself to the ideal weight distribution of 50:50 and a considerably low center of gravity. The chassis was built with racing in mind and therefore includes a double-joint spring strut suspension. In addition, all trim levels of the GR Supra come with a standard adaptive variable suspension that has two different settings: Normal and Sport, letting you switch as needed.

Complimentary Membership to the National Auto Sports Association (NASA)

All trim levels of the 2020 GR Supra come with a complimentary one-year subscription to NASA. This membership nets drivers access to a number of different benefits, including admission discounts to NASA events and one free High Performance Driving Experience (HPDE).

A Car Unlike Any Other

It goes without saying that the 2020 Supra is unlike any other car out there – even those within its own class. It offers a perfect blend of sport and luxury and is the car guaranteed to command attention no matter where you’re driving.
