Four Can't-Miss Local Long Island 4th of July Events

Posted at Fri, Jun 25, 2021 9:00 AM

The last year has been a rough one for everyone, but now we are all able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. After being on lockdown for so long due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the return to normalcy is an exciting and long-awaited prospect. With summer in full swing and restrictions easing, it is time to get hyped for our next big holiday: The 4th of July. If you have not yet made plans and are not sure what is going on locally, just keep reading. We here at Westbury Toyota have put together a list of some Long Island 4th of July events for you to check out!

The Waterview 4th of July Celebration

Taking place in Port Jefferson on the 4th and running from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., this celebration includes a sumptuous dinner buffet, live music, and caps off with a fantastic fireworks display over Long Island Sound. The menu for the evening is quite varied, including classic favorites like hamburgers, hotdogs and a build-your-own-salad salad bar, as well as the following:

  • Grilled chicken bruschetta
  • Bear steam sausage
  • Orzo salad
  • Quinoa

In order to attend this event, you must make reservations. This is a perfect night out for adults or families, so do not wait to book your table!

Fireworks July 4th Spectacular

If you are in the mood for some truly unforgettable fireworks to celebrate Independence Day, make plans to head on over to Jones Beach State Park. The fireworks start at 9:30 P.M., but it is worth coming early in order to check out the other attractions the park offers, such as the boardwalk, concession stands, and games (shuffleboard, mini golf, cornhole, paddle tennis, etc.). The park is also an excellent place to swim, bike, hike, or go fishing, so why not make a day out of it and then wrap everything up by watching the fireworks? The fireworks display will feature music that is simulcast by both WALK 97.5 FM and KJOY 98.3 FM. There is no extra fee to watch the fireworks - the price is included in the park's regular admission.

July 4th Freedom Fest

Anyone with a love of dancing needs to check out Freedom Fest, a daytime dance party taking place at Great South Bay. It is only for people aged 21 and over and will start at noon and end at 8:00 P.M. Because the party takes place on a barrier beach, the only way to get there is by the public ferry or by chartering a private boat. While you cannot bring outside food or alcohol, there is a waterfront full-service dining room at the venue that has a large selection of food. The organizers ask that everyone who attends be vaccinated, but will not be checking vaccination records and will instead rely on the honor system. For more information about Freedom Fest, please visit the website.

Celebrate the 4th of July with Petty Five

Fans of the late Tom Petty will want to get tickets for this event sooner rather than later. Petty Five will be playing at Jessie’s on the Water on July 4th, which means you will have an unforgettable evening full of delicious seafood, a gorgeous view of the bay, and terrific music. Petty Five is well known for their faithful renditions of Tom Petty’s music, but they also play songs by other artists that he covered over the course of his career. You can expect to hear songs from The Byrds, The Traveling Wilburys, The Dead, and The Beatles. Check out the website for more information!

Celebrate a Return to Normal Life This 4th of July!

The 4th has always been a highly anticipated holiday but with the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in sight, it has now become a way to appreciate a return to normalcy. Pick the event you like the most, phone up your family and friends, and start making plans because July is almost here!
