Say Hello to the All-New 2021 Toyota Venza

Posted at Fri, Jul 31, 2020 9:00 AM

In keeping with their tendency to deliver pleasant surprises, Toyota has recently unveiled something considerable: A new midsize crossover utility vehicle (CUV), the 2021 Toyota Venza. Shrugging off the mantle of the status quo, the Venza delivers an experience different from what you will find in any other CUV currently available.

Curious to hear more about the Venza? Keep on reading! Our Westbury Toyota staff have put together a quick overview of everything you can expect from the newest addition to Toyota’s fleet.

A New Generation Hybrid System

The arrival of the Venza means that Toyota now has a total of 10 hybrids for 2021, which is far more than any other automaker out there. The hybrid system in the Venza is new for this generation, and has a combination of three electric motors and a 2.5-liter (L) DOHC four-cylinder engine. This highly efficient setup gives drivers 219 horsepower (hp) and an estimated 39 miles per gallon (mpg) combined. Drivers will also have access to three different driving modes: NORMAL, SPORT, and ECO. ECO mode adjusts the throttle in order to give the driver the utmost in mileage from both battery and fuel, while SPORT mode enhances the throttle response, letting you drive with a bit of an edge.

The Venza also has a Predictive Efficient Drive system (PED), that memorizes road and traffic conditions while at the same time analyzing driving habits. By doing so, it is then capable of optimizing the charging of the hybrid battery, thus reducing overall energy consumption.

Experience Peak All-Wheel Drive

To ensure that every drive is as smooth as possible, the 2021 Venza comes equipped standard with Toyota’s famed Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive (AWD). This is one of the most efficient AWD systems since it makes the most out of the advantages provided by the hybrid powertrain. Whereas some AWD systems make use of a driveshaft and transfer case to the rear wheels, the Electronic On-Demand AWD instead uses a special, separate electric motor mounted in the rear to power the rear wheels whenever extra power is needed. When chosen, it activates seamlessly and immediately starts to distribute as much as 80 percent of the driving force to the rear wheels. This drastically reduces front-wheel slippage and also bolsters cornering ability, ensuring that driving capability remains steady and strong no matter the road or weather conditions you face down here on Long Island.

A Full Safety Suite

Standard with the 2021 Venza is the renowned Toyota Safety Sense (TSS 2.0) suite, which includes a bevy of safety systems that include:

  • Road Sign Assist
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
  • Automatic High Beams
  • Lane Tracing Assist
  • Pre-Collision System with Daytime/Low-Light Vehicle and Pedestrian Detection
  • Full Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

All of this, combined with the inherent collision protection found in the Toyota New Global Architecture K platform, makes the Venza one of the smartest, safest vehicles currently available.

Ride in Exemplary Comfort and Style

The Venza is truly one of a kind, and you will notice this the moment you get behind the wheel. One of its most incredible innovations is a first for Toyota: The Star Gaze fixed panoramic glass roof. Made from electrochromic glass technology, drivers can opt to switch between transparent glass to frosted glass within seconds with just the press of a button. The frosted mode brightens the interior of the Venza while at the same time dampening the direct sunlight above, resulting in a cabin that feels more expansive.

In terms of comfort, you will be hard pressed to find a vehicle that offers more here on Long Island. The front seats are standard power, with the driver’s side being 8-way and the passenger side being 4-way on the Limited trim. An additional perk for the driver is the automatic slide-away function, which adjusts the seat upon entering or exiting the vehicle. Heated seats are an available option, while ventilated front seats come standard on the Limited trim. The seats are also the epitome of style, especially those with bolster stitching (available on certain grades).

A Welcome Change to the CUV Class

As you can see, there is plenty about the 2021 Toyota Venza to get excited about. Offering all the elements of a luxury vehicle in combination with the unparalleled efficiency of Toyota’s hybrid technology, the Venza stands poised to be a CUV unlike any other.
