Five Can't Miss Halloween 2022 Events on Long Island

Posted at Fri, Oct 21, 2022 9:00 AM

Now that October is well and truly here, many people are looking forward to what the end of the month holds. Halloween is one of the most popular times of year and is celebrated by people of all ages. If you are wondering just what kind of Halloween activities there are to be found in Long Island, you need look no further! Our Westbury Toyota staff have taken note of some of Long Island’s most anticipated Halloween events and given them a brief overview so that you can start making some spooky celebration plans.

Pay a Visit to Bayville Scream Park

If you and your friends want to attend a truly scary haunted house this year, look no further than the Bayville Scream Park. This event is intense enough that it is not recommended for children under the age of 10. The Scream Park is actually a series of haunted houses and other Halloween themed attractions. There are “Kids not so scary days” meant for children under the age of 10 so that they can participate in the Halloween fun, too. There are plenty of things to look forward to aside from the haunted houses themselves, including rock climbing, bumper boats, a tiki bar, and mini golf.

The Scream Park is open for all of October as well as November. You can expect long line-ups for the Scream Park’s attractions (particularly on weekends), so it is advised that you order your tickets online. You can also purchase a “Speed Pass” which will let you enter the Fast Pass Line and cuts down on the wait time considerably.

Head Over to the Long Island Aquarium for Bats, Barnacles, and Broomstick

On October 29, running from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Long Island Aquarium will be hosting their own Halloween festival. Every child under the age of 12 that is dressed in a costume will receive 50% off of aquarium admission when accompanied by an adult, and the Halloween activities are free with the price of that admission. Kids will be able to gather candy with the Safe Trick or Treating game that will take place throughout the aquarium. There will also be vendors who will participate in Trick or Treating who will also have crafts, game stations, and raffle prizes. Reservations are not necessary – all you need to do is purchase your tickets at the door.

Participate in the Long Island Maritime Museum’s Halloween Boat Burning

Taking place on October 28 and starting at 5:00 p.m., this unique Halloween celebration is an all-ages event. Tickets are $5.00 per person (children under five get in free), and there will be live entertainment, light refreshments, and a raffle for a beautifully handmade 12-foot duck strip deck kayak. The main event is the burning of a boat and is considered a community tradition (32 years running, in fact). Crowds can watch as a wooden boat is burned near the shore, with firefighters on standby for extra safety.

For more information, please visit the museum’s website.

Go Back in Time with an 1800's Haunted Halloween

If you would like to experience a spooky historical Halloween, head over to the Old Bethpage Village Restoration on October 29 or 30. This all ages event will have Safe Trick or Treating, a costume parade for the kids, a witch’s broom making course, pumpkin painting, a monster scavenger hunt, and an opportunity to meet the Grim Reaper himself! There will also be a live reading of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Tickets for this event are available at the museum’s box office on the day of, so be sure to head on down to grab yours!

Go to Long Island’s Very Own Halloween House

Situated in Lake Grove, the Halloween House is open on October 27 from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This fully indoor Halloween attraction is perfect for smaller kids as it does not have any jump scares or gore. This immersive Halloween experience has a series of intricately decorated rooms that all have a different Halloween theme, making them perfect for anyone who really loves this time of year. Think of it as a stress-free haunted house experience with room themes such as “Glow in the Dark”, “Trick or Treat”, and “Stranger Things.” There is also an indoor pumpkin patch to check out!

For tickets, visit the Halloween House website.
