With summer winding down, people are trying to make sure that they enjoy the warm weather for all it’s worth before it’s gone. The Labor Day weekend marks the transition into fall but it’s also one last hurrah for summer and to that end, we here at Westbury Toyota have put together a list of local Labor Day weekend events fit for family and friends alike. You can bid summer a proper goodbye by partaking in any number of these fun activities that you can find right here at home.
For any baseball lovers, this is a can’t miss event! Taking place at Long Island’s premier baseball destination, Baseball Heaven, the Labor Day Championship is a great way to get your sport’s fix over the holiday weekend. Complete with a restaurant, concessions, and all the first-class amenities you’d expect, Baseball Heaven will provide you and your friends and/or family everything you need to enjoy fast-paced ball games the way they’re meant to be enjoyed.
If you’re in search of a family-friendly Labor Day weekend outing, you’re going to want to be in Farmingdale on September 2nd. Adventureland, a Long Island amusement park that’s been open since 1962, has so much to offer people of every age that you might actually have to go for more than one day in order to experience every attraction. Park admission is free and POP wristbands are $33.99 per person. The park opens at 11:00 A.M. and closes at 7:00 P.M., so you’ll have hours of uninterrupted fun. For those who enjoy a bit of a physical challenge, why not sign up for the Robert C. McAvoy Labor Day 5 Mile Race? If this sounds right up your alley, be sure to register early for a fee of $25.00 (though same-day registration is also an option with a fee of $30.00). Every registered participant gets a free T-shirt during number pick-up at 6:30 A.M. on race day (September 2nd). The course is fast, flat, and five miles precisely. There are multiple awards being given out as well, so there’s even more incentive to participate!

If great food, exciting rides and an upbeat carnival atmosphere are your kind of thing, then you definitely need to check out the 48th Mother Cabrini Italian Feast taking place at Suffolk Community College, Grant Campus, from August 23rd to September 2nd. Admission and parking are absolutely free, so why wouldn’t you head there in order to partake in delectable food, rides, and fireworks? There’s a reason this event is billed as “Long Island’s Largest Italian Feast,” so be sure to bring your appetite. In case there’s too much to take in over the course of one day, be sure to come back for multiple days in a row!
