Posted at Fri, May 6, 2022 9:00 AM

Memorial Day is coming up soon, and there are plenty of ways for Long Islanders to enjoy a sense of community and patriotism when it does. Whether you want to attend parades, enjoy live music, or participate in community cookouts, there is no shortage of Memorial Day events to look forward to this year. Our Westbury Toyota staff has done a write up about a few of these to showcase some of the more interesting holiday weekend gatherings in order to help you narrow down your list.

Memorial Day Weekend in Southampton

Taking place over the entire weekend (May 27 to May 30), this celebration promises a lot of high energy music brought to you by DJ Martial Simon, DJ Joey Sik, and DJ Lomo. This event will be put on by the Southampton Social Club and because of its popularity, reservations are required. It is for adults only and will be a perfect event for a group of fun-loving friends to attend. For those who plan on partying the weekend away, there is no better choice than this! For more information be sure to visit the event’s website.

Special Benefit Concert: John Legend

For the fourth year in a row, Northwell Health is celebrating and honoring the nation’s veterans, as well as all active duty military and their families, with another one of a kind music experience. This year it is John Legend (along with special guest performer Jason Derulo), who will be putting on an unforgettable benefit concert at the UBS Arena in Elmont on Saturday, May 29. As tickets are sure to sell out, booking your own as soon as possible is highly recommended!

The Blend Memorial Day Dance Party

The Blend is a fantastic four-piece band that performs a great mix of dance tunes ranging from today’s hits to the hits of the 60’s. Whether you are into disco, funk, reggae, or 80’s and 90’s pop, they play something for everyone. On Memorial Day weekend, they will be hosting a fun and energetic dance party at the Bayside Clam Bar in Islip. The event will go forward only if weather is permitting, so cross your fingers and hope for sunny skies! For more information, visit the event’s website here.

Farmingdale Village Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

For those who want to remember, honor, and salute the nation’s heroes, head to Farmingdale Village on May 30th. The Annual parade will kick off at 10:00 A.M. at Northside School and will proceed south down Main Street to come to an end at Village Hall. A ceremony will commence afterward, and this will be a wonderful way for the entire family to pay respects to America’s brave soldiers still in active duty, as well as those who have sadly fallen. For more information about the parade and ceremony, be sure to check out the event’s Facebook page.

The Chamber Orchestra of New York

The Chamber Orchestra of New York will be presenting a free concert to celebrate Memorial Day on May 30 at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center in Garden City. Under the baton of conductor Salvatore Di Vittorio, the orchestra will play various pieces of music, including Appalachian Spring, and they will be joined by the acclaimed pianist Christopher Goodpasture for a rendition of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23. While the event is free, all who wish to attend will need to register, so be sure to do so soon!
