This year’s Chicago Auto Show was an interesting one for fans of Toyota, as the automaker revealed seven new special editions for their 2021 lineup. The pickup and sport utility vehicle (SUV) variants mostly offer up sporty and rugged vibes as well as a bevy of exciting exterior, interior, tech, and safety features. Is your interest piqued? We certainly hope so, and in order to better showcase this exciting new development we here at Westbury Toyota have put together a quick overview of each of the new special editions for our friends here on Long Island.
With this variant, the popular Highlander gets its first ever XSE trim level. XSE is Toyota’s badge for versions with a sportier edge and in keeping true to tradition the Highlander XSE gets all those perks, including unique exterior and interior styling as well as a notably tuned sport suspension. This version of the Highlander puts out 295 horsepower (hp) with its 3.5-liter (L) V6 that is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. As Kurt Verlin of The News Wheel points out, it also has a top of the line all-wheel drive (AWD) system that routes up to fifty percent of available torque to the rear wheels when needed. Adding to its new off-roading prowess is the Multi-Terrain Select System, letting you alter how responsive your drivetrain is in accordance to inclement weather and the subsequent conditions of the road.
In terms of what you can expect for comfort, convenience, and luxury, you won’t be disappointed. The seating is two-toned (red and black) Softex seats, surrounded by the sophisticated carbon fiber finish of the dash and the futuristic ambient lighting. Connectivity is key in this Highlander variant, giving the driver and passengers access to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa in addition to an unprecedented five USB ports located in different places throughout the interior.
Next year’s model lineup will likewise see three of Toyota’s most reliable vehicles receive a much-wanted Trail Edition. The 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra will all benefit from these Trail exclusive additions, including a marked increase in convenience and a boost to storage capacity. Some of the highlights to look forward to:
These new Trail editions are available in four sharp colors: Super White, Army Green, Midnight Black, and Cement. The exteriors all come with exterior badging and rear seating with standout tan stitching.
Sleek, predatory, and attention-grabbing, the Nightshade special edition will be available for the Sequoia, Tundra, and Tacoma in 2021. The exteriors will feature black door handles, mirror caps, trim, and a bold chrome grille while the interior benefits from plush, black leather trim seating. In terms of exterior colors, you can choose from Blizzard Pearl (Sequoia only), Windchill Pearl (Tacoma and Tundra), Super White (Tundra), and Midnight Black Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic for all three.
As you can see, there’s quite a bit to look forward to in Toyota’s 2021 lineup.
