It’s fast approaching that time of year when we Americans celebrate all the things that make our country so great. With the 4th of July right around the corner, most people are starting to make their celebration plans. If you’re anything like those of us here at Westbury Toyota, you’re probably looking forward to enjoying the 4th of July right here on Long Island soil.
If that’s indeed the case, we have some good news: The Westbury Toyota team has put together a quick list of Independence Day gatherings you can check out with your friends, family, or both here on Long Island. With this in mind, go ahead and join us as we break down the events you can't afford to mess this coming 4th of July holiday.
If watching fireworks is your ideal way of celebrating this holiday, you’ll want to get it on this event. Hosted by Freeport Water Taxi & Tours, this Jones Beach fireworks show is one you’ll get to enjoy from the water in all its glory. The boat will be positioned at a prime location in the bay proper, giving you an uninterrupted view of the fantastic fireworks. The event kicks off at 8:30 p.m. and it’s open to children and adults, so why not grab the family and head on over to Freeport on July 4th?
Taking place at Old Bethpage Village Restoration and running from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., this event will transport you back in time to give you a glimpse of civilized life as it was in 1862. There will be military drills, historic trade demonstrations, and a ceremony which will take place at 2:30 p.m. There’ll be no shortage of musical entertainment, either – a brass band and fiddle players will perform throughout the day, and there will also be a contra dancing demonstration. People of all ages are welcome to attend and there’s no price for admission.
This adults-only cruise takes place on board a luxury cruising yacht. In addition to an open bar and a professionally prepared three-course meal, there will also be a DJ, dancing, and a spectacular fireworks show to top everything off. If you’re looking to party in style on Independence Day, this is the event you want to be at. The ship departs from Freeport at 8:00 p.m. sharp, and Tickets are by reservation only at $150 per person (21 years of age or older only).
If you’d like to appreciate the theatrical arts this coming Independence Day, why not take a trip over to Huntington to check out the arts festival? This free event is actually running all summer, but that’s no excuse not to make a day out of it on the 4th of July! All performances take place rain or shine, and on the 4th it will be the Huntington Community Band performing. Celebrate your holiday by taking in great music and an upbeat festival atmosphere with your family and friends!
For those of you who’d like to learn a bit more about Independence Day, why not take in a musical drama film which depicts the nation’s founding fathers and how they worked toward our country’s emancipation from the British? If this sounds right up your alley, head to the Patchogue Theatre for Performing Arts on July 4th. The movie starts at 7:00 p.m., and the price for admission ranges from $12 to $15 based on age.
This fabulous fireworks show – put on by GRUCCI – is best viewed from within Montauk itself. It runs from 9:15 p.m. until 9:45 p.m., making it early enough in the evening for most kids to see. There’s no cost for viewing the fireworks show, but the Montauk Chamber of Commerce appreciates any and all donations. For a perfect end to a wonderful holiday, travel to Montauk to take in a professional fireworks show unlike any other.
